Nir Shah Returns to Direction After a Decade, Filming Begins for Psychological Drama ‘Kamala Miss’

Kathmandu, — Veteran Nepali actor and filmmaker Nir Shah has returned to film direction after a decade, announcing his comeback with a psychological drama titled Kamala Miss.

The film officially began shooting on Friday following a traditional inauguration ceremony held at the New Millennium School premises in Imadol, Lalitpur.

According to the production team, Kamala Miss explores subtle dimensions of human psychology and inner conflict.

The film features Nir Shah himself alongside Basana Timilsina, Shivam Saraf Chhetri, Aarav Dahal, Bhawana Magar, Sushant Kumar Shrestha, and Jayant Regmi in lead roles. Sagar Bohara is serving as the chief assistant director.

Presented by the Bijay Malla Memorial Foundation, the film is executive-produced by Umesh Mall and Chaitanya Pradhan, with Pushkar Lama (Prem Bhomjan) as the line producer. The story is written by Vijay Mall, while the screenplay and dialogues are jointly penned by Nir Shah, Prajal Dulal, and Sugam Dulal.

Shah began his cinematic journey in 1967 with Pariwartan, directed by Hira Singh Khatri. His directorial works such as Basudev, Pachchis Basanta, Rajmati, Basanti, Masan, and Seto Bagh are considered milestones in Nepali cinema.

As an actor, he has appeared in over 300 films.

His most recent acting venture, Paran, achieved significant commercial success, collecting approximately NPR 180 million at the box office.

With Kamala Miss, Shah is expected to once again engage Nepali audiences through a thought-provoking and psychologically layered narrative.
