Kathmandu — Nepali films ‘Kumari’ and ‘Ramita Ko Pirti’, released on Magh 23, have reported underwhelming box office earnings. According to figures released Monday by the Film Development Board, both films have struggled to attract large audiences.
Directed by Dinesh Raut, ‘Kumari’ grossed NPR 5.62 million by Falgun 2, selling 17,025 tickets.
Meanwhile, Sudipta’s ‘Ramita Ko Pirti’ earned NPR 1.94 million during the same period, with 5,937 tickets sold.
Both films were released targeting the Valentine’s season and explore different dimensions of love and emotion. ‘Kumari’ stars Abhishek Khadka and Aakriti Rajbhandari in lead roles, alongside Ghanshyam Joshi, Sunita Shrestha, and Akanksha Karki.
‘Ramita Ko Pirti’ features Ana Sharma as the lead, with performances by Dhiraj Magar, Sameer Shrestha, Vinay Shrestha, Jiana, Goumaya Gurung, Pashupati Rai, Renu Yogi, and Thinle Lhamo.
The weak box office performance highlights limited audience turnout and the challenges of attracting viewers despite the Valentine’s season releases.
