The highly anticipated South Indian action sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is currently taking the box office by storm. The film’s special premieres are scheduled for March 18, followed by a worldwide theatrical release on March 19. Advance booking numbers indicate that the film is set to rival some of the biggest hits of the post-pandemic era.
In the North American market, the film is performing exceptionally well. Verified data from Venky Box Office shows that the USA premiere advance sales have already crossed $537,660 across 551 locations and 1,002 shows, with 33,348 tickets sold and 11 days remaining until the premiere. Including pre-sales, the first-day advance has reached $765,000, while first-weekend advance sales have already hit a staggering $1.45 million. Texas leads US collections, followed by California and New Jersey, with the Cinemark chain contributing significantly to these numbers.
On the domestic front, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is dominating, especially in the Hindi belt. Premiere shows have already grossed over ₹13 crore, with the Hindi 2D version driving most of the growth at an average ticket price of ₹434. The film is also releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, but the Hindi 2D format is seeing the highest number of shows and occupancy.
The film’s appeal is further enhanced by its availability in premium formats like XD, RPX, and other Large Format (PLF) screens. In the US, RPX formats are leading with 26% occupancy, while other premium formats are reaching up to 37%.
As the countdown to March 18 continues, the buzz around #DhurandharTheRevenge suggests that the film is likely to cross the $2 million mark in the USA during its opening weekend. With the domestic market also heating up, the film is poised to set new global box office benchmarks for the year.
