‘Sholay’ Director Ramesh Sippy to Attend NIFF Opening: Bringing Bollywood Experience to Nepal

Kathmandu — Renowned Indian filmmaker Ramesh Sippy will make a special appearance at the opening ceremony of the Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF).

According to NIFF President KP Pathak, Sippy’s visit to Nepal has been confirmed, and he will attend the उद्घाटन event as a distinguished guest.

During the festival, Sippy is also scheduled to share insights into the journey of Indian cinema, his personal filmmaking experience, and industry knowledge with Nepali filmmakers and audiences.

Pathak stated that Sippy was invited to strengthen collaboration between Nepali and Indian filmmakers, adding that his experience will provide valuable understanding of the Bollywood market to Nepali creators.

Sippy has directed more than a dozen films, including the iconic Bollywood classic Sholay, which cemented his legacy as a legendary director.

His most recent directorial venture, Shimla Mirchi, was released in 2020. He has also produced numerous films and appeared in some as an actor.

Actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor, Dharmendra, and Rajesh Khanna have starred in films directed by him.

The 9th edition of the Nepal International Film Festival will begin on Chaitra 19 in Kathmandu, featuring 88 films from 40 countries along with 10 interactive sessions on diverse topics.
