The makers of the highly anticipated film ‘Lali Bazar’ have released a fresh poster ahead of its nationwide release on May 1 (Baisakh 18). The new look highlights a striking on-screen pairing between superstar Swastima Khadka and newcomer Bishal Devkota.
Bishal, an established figure in the Nepali theater circuit as both a director and actor, secured his breakout role through a rigorous audition process. His performance in the play ‘Mira’ at Kantipur Theatre caught the attention of the film’s creative team, including executive producer Pradeep Bhattarai. Impressed by his acting prowess, Shatkon Arts decided to cast him opposite Swastima for his silver screen debut.
Reflecting on his transition from stage to screen, Devkota shared, “It has been a lifelong dream to become an actor. While theater allows you to live a character in one continuous flow, cinema demands a fragmented yet precise performance. It’s a grounded story that reflects the realities of our society.”
Directed by Yam Thapa and filmed in Rajapur, Bardiya, ‘Lali Bazar’ is already generating significant buzz. Its hit track, ‘Mayalai Ke Diu Ma Baina,’ has become a viral sensation, amassing over 8 million views on YouTube and dominating social media trends on TikTok and Instagram Reels.
The film, which also stars Rabindra Singh Baniya and Mukunda Kumar Shrestha, is being promoted as a complete family entertainer.
