The Nepali film “Ram Naam Satya,” released on Chaitra 27, has collected a gross box office revenue of NPR 32 million by Monday, according to distributor Govinda Shahi. The production team says the film is moving toward financial safety.
Shahi noted that the Development Board’s data shows around NPR 28 million by Saturday, but the actual figure is higher as collections from some theatres are not included in the official records.
Producer Upendra Shahi stated that the film has earned around NPR 7 million from international markets excluding the United States. The film is set to release in multiple US cities starting April 24 with around 200 shows, and is sold on a revenue-sharing basis, which is expected to bring additional income.
Director Michael Chand said the digital rights of the film were sold to OSR Digital for NPR 7.2 million, which has significantly supported the production’s recovery.
With a production budget of around NPR 30 million, the film is now moving towards breaking even, according to the director.
Produced by Shweta Bimali and Upendra Shahi, the film features performances by Biraj Bhatta, Sushil Shrestha, Divya Rayamajhi, Supushpa Bhatta, Ayush Singh Thakuri, Khushi Karki, Sunil Thapa, and Prashant Tamrakar, among others.
The production team says the film has brought renewed optimism to the box office at a time when recent Nepali releases have struggled commercially.
