Kathmandu — The release date of the upcoming Nepali film Maya Vanekai Yesto Hola, directed by actress Rekha Thapa, has been officially announced. The film is set to hit theaters nationwide on Bhadra 26.
According to an agreement between the production team and distributors, the film will be released around the Teej festival and Kushe Aunsi (Father’s Day). Although earlier plans suggested a Teej release, the final date was recently confirmed.
The film will be distributed by Rich Entertainment, Apple Entertainment, and FD Company.
Returning to direction after eight years, Rekha Thapa has previously directed successful films such as Himmatwali and Malika. This marks her third directorial feature. Notably, she has worked outside her own production banner for this project, which is considered a rare move in the Nepali film industry.
Produced under Dia and Amu Films, the movie features a strong ensemble cast including Madan Krishna Shrestha, Dil Shrestha, former Miss Nepals Shristi Shrestha, Namrata Shrestha, Niti Shah, and special appearance by Usha Khadgi. The film uniquely brings together four former Miss Nepals on screen.
The cast also includes Laxmi Giri, Bishal Pahadi, Sangam Bhandari, Ravi Dongol, Sunita Shrestha, and Binod Poudel.
Produced by Hari Narayan Shrestha and Maya Devi Shrestha, the screenplay is written by Dhruv Lamsal, who returns to writing after a decade-long gap. The film is expected to present a romantic narrative blended with social emotions and contemporary themes.
Technical credits include cinematography by Sudip Baral, assistant direction by Aniruddha Aatreya, music by Prashant Siwakoti, costume design by Sujeni Malla, makeup by Priya Karki, and production management by Chudamani (CM).
