Actor and director Ramit Dhungana has been bereaved following the passing of his mother, Gyanudevi Dhungana. She passed away at 5 a.m. on Sunday at Sumeru City Hospital in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. She was 88 years old. She was admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening after suddenly experiencing health complications.
According to music video director Rozal Thapa, a close associate of the family, the last rites will be performed on Sunday afternoon at Pashupati Aryaghat in Kathmandu according to Hindu traditions. Prior to the cremation, her body will be kept at Aryaghat from 10 to 11 a.m. for final tributes.
Ramit Dhungana was known to be very close to his mother. His social media accounts often feature photos and videos with her, including moments of travel and hospital visits. He had even turned down several film offers due to his mother’s health condition.
On the professional front, Dhungana recently directed the film ‘Nametine Ghau’, which did not perform well commercially. He is now preparing for a new project. According to sources, he is planning to reuse the title of his debut film ‘Maya Namar’ for his upcoming directorial venture.
