Nepali actress Swastima Khadka has expressed high expectations for her upcoming film ‘Lalibazar’, calling it a defining project in her acting journey.
“I believe ‘Lalibazar’ will establish me as an actor for many years. I feel extremely lucky to be part of this film,” she said.
Produced under Shatkon Arts, Khadka was selected through an audition process. She shared that after completing a decade in acting, she secured the role through a look test.
Although the film centers on a mother-daughter relationship, Khadka portrays a woman from the Badi community. To prepare for the role, she traveled to Bardiya and conducted in-depth research.
“I interacted with elderly women and experienced living as a ‘Madhuwala’ character in a world very different from my own,” she explained.
She described ‘Lalibazar’ as one of the most memorable films of her career and expressed confidence that audiences will experience something unique.
The film is scheduled to release on Baisakh 18.
The cast also includes Rabindra Singh Baniya, Samaira Thapa, Mukunda Kumar Shrestha, and Abhay Baral among others. Newcomers Bishal Devkota and Prashansa Subedi will be making their acting debut with this film.
