Kathmandu — Actor Sushil Sitoula has been officially signed for the upcoming historical film Maharajadhiraj. The production team confirmed the announcement on Sunday, shortly after bringing actress Pooja Sharma on board.
According to the makers, Sitoula will play one of the key roles in the film. He is often regarded as an underrated performer in the Nepali film industry.
As casting moves toward completion, the film’s lineup is becoming increasingly strong. Actor Pushpa Khadka had earlier been confirmed in a lead role. The film, which carries a period drama feel, is scheduled to begin shooting after mid-Baisakh.
Directed by Parichhed Sen, the film also stars Keki Adhikari, Hemant Budhathoki, Neer Shah, Aryan Sigdel, Ramesh Upreti, Usha Rajak, HiuBala Gautam, Jaikishan Basnet, Shishir Bhandari, Gajit Bist and Asha Poudel, among others.
The film, considered Sen’s dream project, will feature around 80 actors in total, blending veteran and new-generation performers.
Presenter Biraj Bista said the strong cast reflects the film’s ambition and quality.
Shooting will begin in Sri Lanka Tappu in Sunsari, followed by locations in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur. Cinematography will be handled by Navraj Thapa.
Produced under Chhatreshwor Management Pvt. Ltd., the film is written by director Sen himself. The producers include Ravi Khadka, Shivraj Paudel and Topendra Bista.
The film is targeting a release during the upcoming Dashain festival season.
