Kathmandu — Shooting for the upcoming Nepali film Zooba has officially begun. Presented by Astra Films, the film commenced production with a formal ceremony in Sarlahi.

According to the production team, the film will be shot over a 75-day schedule. Filming will take place in Sarlahi, Kathmandu and Rajasthan, India, indicating a large-scale cinematic production.

Actor Saugat Malla plays the lead role in the film. It is written and directed by Prakash Karna, while Barsha Poudel serves as screenplay writer. Both Karna and Poudel are also attached as creative producers.

The film will mark the acting debut of Sophie Dharel. Alongside Saugat and Sophie, actor Sudhan Pokharel will also appear in a lead role. Although he has previously worked in two films, this will be his first lead performance.

Produced by Rock Castle Studio, the film had earlier unveiled three character posters that generated audience curiosity.

One poster featured Saugat Malla greeting a camera with folded hands, while another showed him speaking on a landline phone at a PCO booth, hinting at a storyline set two decades ago. Sophie Dharel appeared alongside him with a displeased expression.

The third poster introduced Sudhan Pokharel in a cigar-smoking look, suggesting a strong antagonist character.

The production team, however, has not yet revealed further details regarding the storyline, supporting cast or technical crew.
