Sarlahi. Chandranagar Rural Municipality has announced subsidies for Nepali films that utilize Nadhiman Lake, a site of historical, religious, and natural significance, as a shooting location.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 5th Nepal Rural Film Festival, Chairperson Rajkumar Mahato said the policy and budget provision has already been introduced this year and will continue in the coming years.

According to him, the subsidy will be provided to films, television serials, and music videos made in Nepali, Maithili, and Bhojpuri languages. The municipality is currently preparing the necessary working guidelines for implementation.

Alongside this announcement, the municipality has formally requested that Nadhiman Lake be included as an official filming location through the Executive Chairperson of the Film Development Board, addressed to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

The municipality stated that the government-published guide “Filming in Nepal: The Ultimate Travel Guide to Film Sites” has been a useful reference for filmmakers across the country.

In this context, the municipality has requested that Nadhiman Lake—spanning around 52 bighas and believed to be associated with the Dwapar era and Mahabharata mythology—be included in the guidebook as well as the Film Development Board’s official website under the “Filming in Nepal” section.

It has also requested inclusion in both the digital platform and upcoming e-book and print editions.

Chandranagar Rural Municipality expressed confidence that this initiative will help enhance the national and international recognition of Nadhiman Lake and extended gratitude to the Film Development Board, Nepal.
