Kathmandu — The Karnali International Film Festival, which connects cinema and tourism while promoting stories, art, culture, and heritage globally, has opened applications for its award ceremony under its third edition.
The organizing committee has invited official submissions across multiple categories to honor outstanding creations from both Nepal and around the world.
According to organizers, the first phase of the festival was recently completed in Surkhet and Kupinde Lake in Salyan district of Karnali Province, with more than 1,200 participants attending various programs.
Following the successful completion of the first phase, applications are now open for the second phase, which will include the award ceremony.
Interested filmmakers must register their entries by May 15, 2026. Eligible films must have been publicly released between Baisakh 1, 2082 and Chaitra end, 2082. Films released outside this period will not be eligible for competition.
A total of eight award categories will be presented at the festival. International categories include Best Feature Film and Best Short Film.
National (Nepali) categories include Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Emerging Filmmaker.

Festival director Chakrabahadur Chand stated that the main goal of the festival is to bring world-class cinema and stories onto a single platform. He expressed confidence that this year will see even more creative and high-quality film participation.
