The Patan High Court has ordered authorities to produce censorship-related documents in connection with the film Lalibazaar, intensifying the legal scrutiny surrounding its release.

According to Information Officer Govinda Prasad Koirala, the court has instructed the Central Film Censorship Board to submit the original file that granted screening approval to the film.

The order was issued on Tuesday by a joint bench of Judges Geeta Prasad Timsina and Deepak Khanal. The court has also extended its earlier interim order halting the film’s release until Wednesday, when further hearings are scheduled.

Koirala stated, “The previous order to stop the screening until the 22nd has now been extended until Wednesday. A hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, and the matter will be discussed further after reviewing the submitted documents.”

Earlier, on Baisakh 15, the court had issued a temporary stay on the film’s release. The case was filed by Roshani Nepali, who raised objections to certain scenes and dialogues in the film.

Directed by Yam Thapa, Lalibazaar was initially set to release on Baisakh 18, but the court’s intervention has put its screening on hold until further notice.
