Actor and writer Khagendra Lamichhane has denied widespread social media rumors suggesting he is set to become the next chairperson of the Film Development Board. He clarified that he has no interest in the position.
Responding to viral posts and videos claiming his appointment, Lamichhane said he even received congratulatory calls and messages due to the misinformation.
In a public statement shared on Facebook, he emphasized that his life is dedicated to literature, theatre, and cinema, and he intends to continue working in the same field.
He noted that he has been active as an actor, writer, producer, and director, and has also been engaged in supporting filmmakers and the broader film industry in recent years.
Quoting his personal journey, he said, “I chose what my heart wanted,” adding that he has never intended to leave the creative field for other roles.
Meanwhile, following recent government changes through an ordinance, some members of the central film censor committee have been relieved of their posts. However, the Film Development Board’s current working committee remains intact. The present chairperson Dinesh DC is set to continue in office until Bhadra (August/September).
