Kathmandu — The grand premiere of Nepali film Malati Mangle was held in Kathmandu ahead of its nationwide release this Friday, drawing praise from audiences, media personalities and distinguished guests.
Viewers at the premiere said the film’s emotional storytelling and engaging presentation kept audiences fully invested throughout its 2-hour and 38-minute runtime.
Actor Bijay Baral once again received acclaim for his natural performance, while actress Barsha Raut earned praise for what many described as the best performance of her career so far. Television comedian Meksam Gaudel also made a strong impression on the big screen, with audiences calling his role one of the film’s standout elements.
Among the attendees was Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party and a longtime friend of the film’s producer and singer Ram Krishna Dhakal. Lamichhane said the movie presents a story that “needed to be told in Nepal.”
Speaking to reporters after the screening, he said the film successfully balanced comedy, emotion, strong performances and impactful dialogue, adding that it did not feel like the work of a first-time director.
Veteran actor Madan Krishna Shrestha also highly praised the film after the screening. The premiere was attended by notable personalities including Krishna Malla, Sharmila Malla, Kiran KC, Yam Baral and Sandeep Chhetri, along with members of the film industry and media.
Produced under the banner of Rani Films in collaboration with Uni Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Praku Pandey. The screenplay and dialogues were penned by Sanyog Guragain.
The cast also includes Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Narin Thapa, Mansu Sapkota, Susma Niraula and Sunil Tamang. The film is distributed nationwide by RR Films.
