Kantipur Theatre has announced its upcoming stage production Mahabharat, marking the theatrical debut of popular comedian Manoj Gajurel.
The theatre, known for consistently staging productions featuring prominent artists, made the announcement on Wednesday. The play is written by Kuldeep Kunal and directed by Nabin Bhatt.
Alongside Gajurel, actors Ramesh Budathoki and Bishal Pahari will also play key roles in the production. Rehearsals are currently underway at Kantipur Film Academy in Gairidhara.
The cast also includes Sandeep Shrestha, Supragya Sharma and Pratik Chaudhary, along with around 20 performers from Kantipur Theatre.
The Nepali adaptation and script transformation has been done by Prakash Dahal. Lighting design is handled by Dipesh Gajurel, set design by Tufan Thapa and music composition by Anup Timsina.
Mahabharat will be staged from Jestha 8 to 31. Previously, Kantipur Theatre has presented productions such as Meera, Shirishko Phool and Maharani Ko Jatra, featuring actors like Rekha Thapa, Jeevan Luitel and Benisha Hamal.
Their recent production Seto Dharti concluded its final show on Saturday after a series of houseful performances.
