Reason Behind Dayahang and Saugat’s Clash in ‘Mitjyu’ ?

Whenever Dayahang Rai and Saugat Malla appear together on screen, excitement naturally builds among Nepali moviegoers. Now, the duo is reuniting once again in the upcoming film ‘Mitjyu’, but this time their chemistry comes packed with intense conflict.

Directed by Anil Budha Magar, ‘Mitjyu’ revolves around two close friends bonded as “Mit” — a culturally sacred friendship in Nepali society. However, the arrival of a young woman and tensions surrounding a vehicle route trigger emotional ups and downs that slowly push the friendship toward confrontation.

According to the makers, the core attraction of the film lies in the rivalry and emotional clashes between Dayahang Rai and Saugat Malla.

Director Anil says the audience will enjoy seeing two strong lead characters standing against each other despite both being heroes of the story.

Traditionally, “Mit” relationships are considered deeply respectful in Nepali culture, to the extent that friends often avoid even calling each other by name. But ‘Mitjyu’ flips that tradition by showing arguments, misunderstandings and conflict within that sacred bond.

The film also raises curiosity about how such a meaningful friendship falls apart and whether reconciliation is possible.

Interestingly, films featuring tension between Dayahang Rai and Saugat Malla — including ‘Loot’ and ‘Kabaddi’ — have historically become major hits, giving the makers confidence about audience response to ‘Mitjyu’.

Set to release on Jestha 8, the film also stars Teriya Magar in a lead role alongside Khadga Bahadur Pun Magar, Shishir Wangdel, Pushkar Gurung, Raj Thapa, Subarna Thapa, Anu Thapa and Smita Lamichhane.

Produced by Janak Gharti Magar, the film features editing by Lokesh Bajracharya and cinematography by Shishir Bishankhe.

Blending rural Nepali culture, friendship and emotional storytelling, ‘Mitjyu’ aims to strike a deep connection with audiences.
