Kathmandu — Actress Rista Gurung, winner of ‘Mero Dance Universe 2’, has officially signed on for the upcoming Nepali film Aa Bata Aama 2, directed by Chandra Pant. The production team announced her casting during a press conference held on Sunday.
Speaking after the announcement, Gurung expressed excitement about working with what she described as a strong and professional team. She said the opportunity to collaborate with the production unit mattered more to her than being paired opposite any particular actor.
Director Pant, however, kept the identity of her on-screen pair a secret, calling it a “surprise” for audiences.
The film has already signed actors Paul Shah, Aakash Shrestha, Bipana Thapa, Pradeep Rawat, Saigrace Pokharel, Gajit Bista and Naren Khadka in key roles.
Scheduled for release on October 30 during the Dashain festival season, the movie is a sequel to the commercially successful Aa Bata Aama, which reportedly earned nearly NPR 140 million at the domestic box office.
According to the production team, filming will begin within a few weeks. Overseas distribution rights for the United States and Canada have already been sold to Doko Films for a record amount. In Nepal, the film will be distributed by RR Films, while digital rights have been acquired by OSR.
