Kathmandu — The team behind the Nepali film Elephants in the Fog, which created history at the Cannes Film Festival, is set to be officially welcomed and honoured by the government upon their return.
Prime Minister’s advisor Asim Shah described the achievement as more than just an award, calling it a moment of global recognition for the struggles and potential of Nepal’s film industry. He stated that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Film Development Board will jointly honour the team.
Film Development Board Chair Dinesh DC confirmed that the team will be received at the airport on Monday morning, followed by a formal felicitation program within a week.
Directed by Avinash Bikram Shah, the film won the Jury Prize in the “Un Certain Regard” section at Cannes, marking a landmark achievement for Nepal.
The film has also received praise from major international film magazines, including Variety.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Kathmandu International Film Festival (KIMFF) has announced plans to include director Shah as a panelist in an upcoming discussion session.
