Kathmandu – Actress Malika Mahat has officially joined the highly anticipated film Aa Bata Aama 2, directed by Chandra Pant. She has been signed for the lead female role, completing the film’s lineup of main female characters.
Earlier, actresses Rishta Gurung and Nikita Acharya were also confirmed for the project. With Malika Mahat’s entry, the film’s heroin cast is now finalized, according to the production team.
Director and producer Chandra Pant officially signed Mahat on Sunday. Her inclusion has further fueled audience interest, especially as fans had long been anticipating seeing her paired with actor Paul Shah.
The film features a strong ensemble cast including Paul Shah, Aakash Shrestha, Sabin Shrestha, Bipana Thapa, Pradeep Rawat, Sagrace Pokharel, Gajit Bista, and Naren Khadka, among others.
Pant himself has written the story and screenplay. The film is currently preparing to go on floors within a few weeks and is scheduled for release during the upcoming Dashain festival on October 16 (Ashoj 30).
International distribution rights for the film have already seen strong demand. Rights for the USA and Canada have been sold to Doko Films at a premium price, according to the production team.
In Nepal, the film will be distributed by RR Films, while OSR Digital has acquired its digital rights.
Produced under the banner of Arya Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the film is managed by production manager Karan Singh Rasali.
The original Aa Bata Aama, released last year, was a commercial success with a box office collection of nearly NPR 140 million. The sequel continues the storyline established in the first installment.
