Kathmandu – Director Dinesh Lingden has been awarded the Best Director title at the 6th “Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Film Festival 2083,” organized by the Nepal Indigenous Film Federation at the Film Development Board premises.
Lingden received the honor for his Limbu-language film “Rit,” which also won the Public Choice Award at the festival. The event was held from Jestha 17 to Jestha 19.
The Gurung film “Ngolsyo Ramrani” was declared Best Film of the festival. Meanwhile, Kalayan Rana Magar won Best Actor for the Magar film “Dilsara,” and Bhinuna Shrestha received Best Actress for the Newari film “Swoyangu.”
Sunya Lama was awarded Best Cinematographer for the Tamang film “Hyang Tamang.” The Magar short film “Laureeni” won Best Short Film, while the documentary “Agre” was recognized in the documentary category.
The festival showcased films, documentaries and short features representing diverse indigenous communities including Limbu, Rai, Tharu, Gurung, Magar, Tamang and Bhujel, highlighting their languages, culture and artistic expressions.
