Kathmandu: Emerging actor Roshan KC has been cast in the lead role of director Rajbahadur Sane’s upcoming film “Ganga Rani.” Selected from more than 500 applicants, Roshan has secured a leading role in what will be his debut feature film.
Actress Barsha Siwakoti had already been finalized for the female lead, making “Ganga Rani” the first on-screen pairing of Roshan KC and Barsha Siwakoti.
Having previously appeared in several music videos, Roshan expressed excitement about making his film debut through the project. He said the opportunity to work with a strong storyline and an experienced creative team motivated him to take on the role.
Following Barsha’s casting, the production team announced open auditions for four male and four female roles. Roshan was selected as the lead actor through the audition process, which attracted more than 500 applicants.
Director Rajbahadur Sane said the selection process for three additional actors and three actresses is now in its final stage. The team is evaluating audition photos and videos to identify performers best suited to the characters.
Produced under the Aaha Films banner, “Ganga Rani” is backed by producer Kamal Prasad Sharma. Sane is serving as both writer and director of the film, with shooting scheduled to begin in the second week of Bhadra.
Sane is known for directing films such as “Pathshala,” “The Return Hero,” “Lati,” “Brindaban,” “Birangana,” “Doli,” “Good Friend,” “Silly Pho,” “Bulaki,” “Juna,” and “Citamol.”
Meanwhile, “Lajjawati,” another Aaha Films production directed by Sane, is set for nationwide release on August 14 (Shrawan 29).
