Kathmandu: The makers of the upcoming Nepali film ‘Pension Patta’ have released its first song, ‘Juni Jala’, ahead of the film’s nationwide release on September 11 (Bhadra 26).
Released on the occasion of Shrawan 11, the song showcases the rich cultural heritage of Nepal’s Gurung community, highlighting themes of love, lifelong commitment, and traditional rural life.
The music video features performances by Dayahang Rai, Buddhi Tamang, Wilson Bikram Rai, Gaumaya Gurung, and director Maotse Gurung, presenting Gurung culture, traditional attire, and village life through vibrant visuals.
The song is written by Hark Saud, composed by Manoj Thapa Magar, and performed by Sarun Gurung, Raj Bahadur Gurung, Usha Gurung, and Priya Gurung.
The choreography is by Kamal Bahadur Gurung, while the musical arrangement features guitar by Sanjeev Baraili, madal by Poshan Magar, flute by Ratna Bishwakarma, and sarangi by Manish Gandharba. The track has been mixed by Generix.
According to director Maotse Gurung, ‘Pension Patta’ is a story of hope, perseverance, and human emotions, exploring the struggles people face in pursuit of their dreams.
The film also stars Pushkar Gurung, Pashupati Rai, late Sunil Thapa, Sol Gurung, Manoj Gurung, Anusha Rai, and Lunibha Tuladhar.
Produced under the Maotse Gurung Films banner, the film is written and directed by Maotse Gurung. The technical team includes cinematographer Sushan Prajapati, editors Nimesh Shrestha and Ker D. Koich Linuch, colorist Rajendra Moktan, sound designer Uttam Nyaupane, sync sound recordist Nabin Shrestha, VFX artist Manoj Shrestha, and production designer Raju Yakcha.
The film is produced by Min Konme Gurung (UK), Bhoj Bahadur Gurung (UK), Maya Gurung (Hong Kong), and Sapana Gurung, with D.B. Gurung serving as production manager.
RR Films has acquired the film’s domestic distribution rights. The producers also confirmed that international distribution rights have already been sold for Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, while negotiations are ongoing for additional territories.
Set for release during the Haritalika Teej holiday on September 11, ‘Pension Patta’ promises a heartfelt story of rural life, family relationships, love, sacrifice, and human resilience.
