Kathmandu – The Nepali film Roll No 1, targeted at school students, has received positive responses from young audiences, according to the production team.
The film, which focuses on school life, the education system, and child psychology, has resonated strongly with student viewers.
Producer Binod Paudel said students who have watched the film described it as something all students should watch. He expressed satisfaction that the film’s intended purpose has been fulfilled.
“We made this film with a clear objective, and that has been achieved,” Paudel said. “Students themselves are recommending it to others, saying every student should watch it. That is why we now encourage parents to take their children to theaters.”
According to him, the film highlights the pressure created by academic evaluation systems and the psychological impact it has on students. It also explores the relationship between students, teachers, and parents.
Paudel added that Roll No 1 is a film meant to be watched together by students, teachers, and parents due to its strong social message.
Since its release on Friday, the film’s cast members have been visiting theaters across Nepal to interact with audiences, both in Kathmandu and outside the capital.
Directed by John Yonjan, the film stars Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Nath Yogi, Ewan Raj Upreti, and Srijana Adhikari in lead roles. Child actors include Nirbhik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Sanyam Katwal, and Sijal Shrestha.
Produced by Binod Paudel and Janvi Paudel, with Chhatramaya Giri and Ramesh Chaulagain as co-producers, the film is written by Mahesh Dawadi and shot by cinematographer Shivaram Shrestha.
