The trailer for the upcoming Nepali film Anjila, set to release on Fagun 29, has been unveiled. The trailer showcases the journey of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the captain and No.1 goalkeeper of Nepal’s women’s national football team, highlighting her passion for football, her struggles to step outside her home, and her rise to captaincy.

At the trailer launch event in Kathmandu, Anjila was joined by actor Dayahang Rai, actress Sumin Gurung, producer-actor Prem Kumar Shrestha, director Milan Chams, and other key members of the film. Anjila plays the lead role in the film.

Director Milan Chams shared that the film features many national-level players, making the filmmaking process particularly challenging. He emphasized how difficult it was to get non-actors to perform and revealed that he waited two years to cast Dayahang Rai in the film. He also mentioned that the trailer reveals certain elements to help the audience understand the context before watching the film.

Producer and actor Prem Kumar Shrestha stated that while Anjila is a football-themed film, the story primarily revolves around Anjila’s life.

Actor Dayahang Rai expressed his admiration for Nepali sports, especially the women’s football team, calling himself a big fan. He shared, “When I heard a film about the captain was being made, I agreed to be part of it without even knowing my role. I will always be grateful for this opportunity.”

During the event, Anjila acknowledged many people who played a crucial role in her journey, adding that Milan Chams is now among those she will never forget. She said, “I used to be scared of Milan Dai, but now he feels like my own brother. I am entrusting my story to them, and I am deeply grateful. I never imagined I would act in a film alongside Dayahang Rai. No matter what, he was always dedicated to the game.”

She also thanked Prem Kumar Shrestha, calling him her godfather for guiding her path. “The reason I am here today is because of him. It’s not just about me; a path has opened for other athletes in cinema as well,” she stated.

Anjila shared a personal story, recalling that even at the age of 13, she used to carry 60 kg sacks of rice, which made filming less physically challenging for her.

The film also stars Sunil Thapa, Vijay Baral, Sirjana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, and Buddi Tamang. The shooting took place in Anjila’s hometown Ilam’s Ittabare, as well as Jhapa and Kathmandu. Cinematography was done by Sudip Baral, while Milan Shrestha handled the editing.

Produced under the Moon Love Entertainment banner, Prem Kumar Shrestha is the lead producer, with Tubendra Limbu, Binod Agrawal, and Rajesh Bagadia serving as co-producers. Binod Suvedi Khatri worked as the production controller.
