The film previously screened under the title “Pooja, Sir” at world-renowned film festivals has announced its release date in Nepal. Directed by Deepak Rauniyar, the movie will be publicly released in Nepal under the name “Rajaganj.”
The film is set to be released on March 15, as announced in a press release by the production team on Tuesday. The movie will be jointly released in Nepal by Tiflke and Banquet Entertainment.
The film has already received acclaim at major film festivals such as Venice, Hamburg, Busan, and Mumbai. Recently, Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap joined the film as an executive producer, further increasing its buzz in the Nepali film industry.
In a recent interview with the globally recognized media outlet Variety, director Kashyap mentioned that he became a fan of Rauniyar after watching his film “White Sun.”
The film, which tells a story in the social drama and action genres, features Asha Magarati in a leading role. Alongside her, former Miss Nepal Nikita Chandak, Dayahang Rai, Richa Sharma, Vijay Baral, Gaumaya Gurung, Aarti Mandal, Ghanashyam Mishra, Parameshwar Kumar Jha, Pashupati Rai, and Neeraj Shrestha also appear in the film.
Inspired by true events, “Rajaganj” has reportedly been sold to countries including Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the UK, and Ireland. The film revolves around a police operation to rescue two boys who were kidnapped in a border town between Nepal and India.
Collaboration in the film’s production comes from Adi Films, represented by director Rauniyar and actress Magarati; Basuri Films, represented by Rambabu Gurung and Maniram Pokharel; and actor Dayahang Rai, alongside Alan R. Milligan from Tanhauser Gate.
