Singer Srijan Tamrakar has been elected as the president of the International Nepali Artists Society (INAS) America National Committee.
On Saturday, the national convention held grandly in Pennsylvania, USA, elected a 17-member executive committee.
Previously serving as senior vice president, singer Tamrakar has now been elected president for the 2025–2027 term. He is a founding member and vocalist of the popular Nepali pop band Okili from the 1990s.
The elected vice presidents are film director Gopal Chandra Lamichhane, singer Rita Shrestha, actor and Taekwondo instructor Bikash Ghale Gurung, and singer–composer Laxman Paudel.
Other elected officials include spokesperson and writer–journalist Prakash Nepal, general secretary Dilip Shrestha (photographer and event manager), secretary Chiranjeevi Guragain, treasurer Manish Sharma (model and actor), and deputy treasurer Narayan Khakurel.
Elected members are Anil Timalsena, Amita Lama, Rajesh Shrestha, Raju KC, Binod Giri, and Sushan Manandhar.
Advisors include social worker Shyam Karki, social worker and entrepreneur Amar Chhantyal, actor Raj Ballav Koirala, and singer Anjana Gurung.
Various state committees were also formed. Sanatan Regmi was elected president of the Kentucky state committee, singer Shanti Bhandari as president of Maryland, Alok Karki as president of Pennsylvania, and Bishwo Paudel as president of Virginia. Newly formed INAS New Jersey elected dance director Kabina Singh as president.
The convention was inaugurated by INAS Global Senior Vice President Sabu Gadal Karki. INAS Global Deputy Treasurer Krish Shrestha, INAS America regional coordinator singer Kanhaiya Singh Pariyar, and president Rahul KC, among others, delivered remarks at the opening ceremony.
On the occasion, film director Sudarshan Thapa (currently touring the US), the local social organization Global Bhutanese Organization, senior writer Agom Gurung, and Voice Kids season 3 winner Anhuya Tamang were honored.
Additionally, the team behind the US-made web series Ghar Bat in America received special recognition.
On behalf of Senator JB Jennings, filmmaker Suman Dahal, singer Sworupa Rasaily, and Prakash Nepal were presented with citations.
The program also saw notable participation from organizations such as Intra Foundation (Harrisburg, Lancaster group), Bhutanese Kirati Rai of America (Harrisburg group), Gurud Community of Greater Harrisburg (Ama group), Red Ocean Multi Academy (Carlisle), Taks Karate (Lancaster), along with various other state-level institutions, communities, and nationally renowned artists, who presented vibrant musical and cultural performances.
Outgoing president Rahul KC bid farewell to the 2023–2025 committee while extending congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected officials.
Newly elected president Tamrakar stated that he is committed to the preservation and promotion of the Nepali language, art, and culture. He pledged to create an environment where all Nepali artists scattered across the US can be easily connected to the organization. He also emphasized honoring senior artists, encouraging new talents, and expanding the INAS movement.
The first phase of the convention’s formal program was conducted by Prakash Nepal, while the second phase, featuring cultural performances, was hosted by Sandesh Kumar Khadka.
