Nepali cinema is witnessing a strong box office run, with recent releases performing impressively across the country.

Director Om Pratik’s social drama ‘Mohar’ has grossed NPR 49.2 million in its 26-day theatrical run, with projections suggesting it may cross the NPR 50 million mark by the upcoming weekend.

Made on a budget of NPR 18.6 million, the film has already recovered its investment, bringing relief to lead actors Pal Shah, Niti Shah, and director Pratik, who returns to filmmaking after a long hiatus. Actress Benisha Hamal also plays a key role in the film, which is based on the Deuki tradition of Far-Western Nepal.

Meanwhile, Kedar Ghimire, popularly known as ‘Magne Budha’, stars in his first lead role in ‘Magne Raja’, which has grossed NPR 40.9 million in 12 days. Directed by Rishi Lamichhane, the film capitalized on the festive Teej season and weekend crowds.

On the other hand, ‘Janai Harayeko Manchhe’, starring Vijay Baral, has underperformed compared to expectations, earning only NPR 11 million in 12 days. Released alongside ‘Magne Raja’ and ‘Tara Haru’, the film faced stiff competition.

Currently, 165 cinema halls across Nepal are connected to the real-time Cinepax box office system, enhancing transparency and data-driven insights for the film industry.
