Popular comedian and actor Kedar Ghimire (Magne Budha) has contributed NPR 25,000 to the Journalists’ Welfare Fund, managed by the Film Journalists’ Association of Nepal.

The fund has long been supporting journalists for medical treatment, emergency needs, and unforeseen crises. To strengthen this initiative, the association launched the “Welfare Fund Campaign”. As part of this campaign, actor Ghimire handed over the cash donation to association representatives on Sunday.

Speaking about his contribution, Ghimire said,

“I have always dedicated a portion of my earnings to social service.
I am happy to provide this small support for film journalists.
Journalists are the medium that brings our creations to the audience, and supporting them is our responsibility as well.”

Recognized as a high-earning artist, Ghimire has consistently allocated a part of his remuneration to social welfare. He expressed pride in being able to contribute, even in a small way, to the challenges faced by film journalists.

Samir Balami, President of the Film Journalists’ Association, expressed gratitude for Ghimire’s contribution:

“So far, our fund has directly assisted around two dozen journalists with medical treatment.
During crises such as earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continued to provide relief and medical support.
Contributions like this will make the fund stronger and more effective.”

The association has also called upon film professionals, artists, and well-wishers to participate in the Welfare Fund. Ghimire’s contribution is believed to foster a positive message and a spirit of unity within the Nepali film journalism community.
