Film Development Board Honours 15 Veteran and Emerging Figures on Constitution Day

On the occasion of Constitution Day 2082, the Film Development Board (FDB) honoured 15 veteran and emerging figures from Nepal’s film industry with the Cultural Transformation Honour and Award for their outstanding contributions to the sector’s social and cultural evolution.
The ceremony was held at the FDB premises in Chabahil, Kathmandu.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, the chief guest of the event, highlighted the role of Nepali cinema as a cultural strength and a medium of international identity. Expressing full confidence in FDB Chairperson Dinesh DC’s leadership, Minister Kharel said,
“The government expects Chairman DC to make history through his exemplary work. I am confident that under his leadership, the Nepali film sector will take a new turn.”

Similarly, Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the film industry, pledging continued support for its reform, empowerment, and internationalization.

The 15 honourees each received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, a certificate of appreciation, and a ceremonial khada.
The awardees represented various sectors including acting, directing, music, journalism, production, and technical fields.

 Honourees:
Shiva Shrestha, Sabita Gurung, Tirtha Thapa, Yash Kumar, Dhruva Lamsal, Ramyata Limbu, Samjhana Rauniyar, Yuvraj Lama, Hemanta Budhathoki, Kishan Pokharel, late Keshav Bhattarai (posthumous), Nazir Hussain, Rimesh Adhikari, Renish Phago, and Anju Panta.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Artists’ Association, Producers’ Association, Technicians’ Union, Film Journalists’ Association, Film Training Centre, and the Central Selection Committee
