The Film Development Board (FDB) has successfully completed the first phase of its Film Development Fee Orientation and Training Program, aimed at making Nepal’s film sector more transparent, efficient, and technology-driven.
The training was held from Mangsir 1 to 7 and included representatives from 26 cinemas across Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Chitwan in Bagmati Province.
Participants received detailed instruction on using the Film Development Fee Portal, including data entry, record management, report generation, and methods to streamline and enhance the transparency of administrative processes.
The sessions were conducted by Board Member Ganesh Prasad Subedi, Officer Dinesh Baniya, Prabin Pandey, and trainer Seraf Lama from Aster Innovation Pvt. Ltd.
The FDB has declared the current fiscal year as the “Year of Skilled Film Workers and Capacity Enhancement” and launched the training as part of its initiative to digitize and systematize the country’s primary revenue source—the Film Development Fee.
The board believes the program will help cinemas nationwide adopt an online registration and fee management system, ultimately strengthening financial transparency, revenue collection, resource protection, and good governance within the Nepali film industry.
