The Nepali film Paralko Aago has completed its shooting within 40 days, the production team announced on Tuesday. The film, shot across various locations in Myagdi, had begun filming before the Dashain festival.
Following the completion of the shoot, the team released three new looks from the film along with its official release date. Producer Sushil Pokharel confirmed that the movie is scheduled to hit theatres nationwide on April 23 (Baisakh 11).
Pokharel said he intentionally avoided major release dates to ensure all films receive fair market space. He also urged fellow producers not to clash their films with his chosen release date out of mutual respect.
According to him, simultaneous releases of multiple films often result in financial losses for both producers and theatre owners, which is why the team opted for a regular Friday release.
The film includes four songs and has been fully shot despite several disruptions, including the ongoing Gen-Z movement, heavy rainfall, and landslides. Although the original shoot schedule was 30 days, it extended by an additional 10 days due to unforeseen obstacles.
Paralko Aago features breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and boasts a large cast ranging from lead actors Saugat Malla, Prakash Saput, and Suhana Thapa to child artist Angila Baniya. Nearly 600 junior artists were involved in the production, even under challenging conditions.
“Our content is strong, and we have not compromised on any aspect of the film,” Pokharel said.
Based on the renowned story by Guru Prasad Mainali, the film stars Saugat Malla, Prakash Saput, Suhana Thapa, Sirjana Adhikari, Shankar Acharya, Kishor Bhandari, Kuldeep Adhikari, Sarita Bhandari, Renu Nyaupane, and child artist Angila Baniya.
Actors had undergone workshops in Kathmandu to strengthen their performances, which, according to the producer, helped elevate the film’s quality.
Written by Sushil Devkota and directed by Laxman Sunar, the film features songs penned by Surendra Rana, Man Bahadur Mukhia, and Prakash Saput. The music is composed by Shanti Thatal, Satya Swaroop, and Saput himself.
Cinematography is by Sankalpa Bhujel, with choreography by Ramji Lamichhane. The film’s distribution rights have already been secured by RR Films and OSR OTT for a high pre-release price.
The story Paralko Aago, included in Mainali’s acclaimed ‘Naso’ collection, had previously been adapted into a film by Pratap Subba 45 years ago, which became a notable success.
