Kathmandu — Popular digital content reviewer BT Kancha, also known as Bishwas Timsina, has stepped into storytelling with his written and directed web series ‘Harami,’ which is currently being released weekly on YouTube. The five-episode series premieres every Friday, with each episode running for around 25 minutes.

At a time when most Nepali YouTube series focus heavily on social issues and women-centric struggles, Harami offers a refreshing change by targeting young audiences. The series moves beyond conventional domestic narratives and explores the lifestyle, mindset, relationships, careers, and emotional complexities of the younger generation.

According to BT Kancha, the response to the series has been encouraging so far, with the second and third episodes receiving even better feedback than the first. The story revolves around the lives of three young men sharing a flat, portraying different phases and turning points in their personal journeys. Each episode attempts to highlight a distinct theme.

Revealing the inspiration behind Harami, BT Kancha said the idea originated from the real-life experiences of one of the characters, Nikun Shrestha. While staying at Nikun’s place after he moved to Nepal from Kalimpong, BT Kancha observed his independent lifestyle, as Nikun’s parents reside in the United States. That experience later evolved into the foundation of the series.

“The concept of living in a flat came from my time at Nikun’s place. The characters Hari and Milan carry the spirit of my friends from India,” he said, adding that the series reflects small but meaningful moments in the lives of three young individuals.

BT Kancha also shared that he was influenced by Indian YouTube platforms such as TVF and Dice Media, which motivated him to introduce similar youth-centric content in Nepal.

Nikun Shrestha, one of the lead characters, has been involved in the project since its inception. He said the idea for Harami dates back to 2020. Affiliated with Man Production, Nikun also serves as the executive producer of the series. Although delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project finally materialized in 2025.

Initially planned during the pandemic, the series took shape later when Nikun reconnected with BT Kancha. The project also includes contributions from Safal KC and Pratik Gurung, writers and directors of the film Hari. Nikun appears in dual roles as both actor and producer, describing the experience as challenging yet rewarding due to strong support from the cast and crew.

So far, Harami has featured Ana Sharma and Aayushman Deshraj Joshi as guest appearances. The production team has confirmed that the fourth and fifth episodes will also include celebrity guest artists. The regular cast includes Nikun Shrestha, Rishikesh Basyal, Shashank Bohara, Raksha Thapa, and Gaumaya Gurung. The fifth episode will be concluded with a special event, and preparations for a second season are already underway.
