Kathmandu —
The latest short story collection Antim Saajh by UK-based writer Kedar Sanket, known for his work in war literature, was formally launched on Sunday. The book launch was organized by Milap Publication in coordination with Aneshas Darpan at Aila Lounge in Kumaripati, Lalitpur, under the chairmanship of epic poet Khemnath Dahal.
Aneshas Darpan Executive Editor Ramesh Dahal delivered the welcome address, while Gita Adhikari, Executive Editor of Milap Monthly, moderated the event.
Chief guest Shri Om Shrestha ‘Rodan’, president of the Nepal Creators’ Society and a senior literary figure, remarked that writers who gain recognition merely through hype and promotion often lack long-term relevance. He emphasized that creators devoted to poetic integrity and continuous creative inquiry secure a lasting literary journey, noting that Kedar Sanket stands apart from those reliant on awards and publicity. Strong works, he added, are ultimately evaluated by time through their experimental style, thematic diversity, and narrative depth.
Reviewing the book, literary critic Pragati Rai highlighted the distinct trajectory of Sanket’s stories, pointing to a blend of realism and experimentalism. She noted that the stories appear well-refined and polished in their published form and wished the author continued strength in his future writing.
Renowned musician and novelist Santosh Shrestha compared the birth of a literary work to that of a child, stating that the book’s presentation and the involvement of eminent literary figures attest to its quality. He expressed confidence that Sanket’s artistic narratives would contribute meaningfully to the enrichment of Nepali literature.
Chair Khemnath Dahal said the stories are written in a fresh style and shared that he was deeply impressed, offering an in-depth critical reflection.
Although unable to attend in person, author Kedar Sanket addressed the gathering via video call, stating that writers speak primarily through their creations. He described readers’ responses as the greatest reward and said future works would be refined based on such feedback.
The event also featured congratulatory remarks from Pratik Ghimire, editor of Rachana Literary Bimonthly, along with other literary figures. A notable gathering of writers and intellectuals attended the program, which concluded with remarks from Krishna Bhusal, editor of Milap Monthly.
