‘Cinema Dialogue’ Program Begins in Tanahun to Promote Film Access and Tourism in Rural Areas

Tanahun — The Film Development Board has launched a five-day ‘Cinema Dialogue’ program in Tanahun district. Starting on Magh 2, the initiative features mobile cinema screenings in areas without theaters, discussions with local representatives on culture and film tourism, and interactive sessions with students.

The program is being conducted in wards of Myagde Rural Municipality, Bandipur Rural Municipality, and Byas Municipality. Nepali films ‘Kosedhunga’, ‘Rangi’, and the short film ‘Khushi’ were screened, significantly increasing local interest and engagement in Nepali cinema.

Participants were warmly welcomed by local communities in traditional cultural attire, strengthening the connection between local culture and cinema.

The team includes ‘Kosedhunga’ producer and actor Dinesh Khadka, writer/director Janak Khadka, production manager Subashraj Kafle, editor and drone pilot Nahkul Khadka, along with Film Development Board official Harisingh Raikhola.

Myagde Rural Municipality Chairperson Sriprasad Shrestha highlighted the local government’s commitment to using cinema to promote tourism. He added that development, preservation, and promotion of tourist and filming sites within the municipality have been prioritized in local policies and budgets.

By fostering direct interaction between local authorities, students, and film professionals, the program aims to expand cinema culture, boost tourism, and improve film access in rural areas, while raising awareness about the importance, potential, and social role of Nepali cinema.
