The trailer of the much-anticipated Nepali romantic film Kumari, scheduled for release on Magh 23, was unveiled at a grand open-air event in Kathmandu’s Bhrikutimandap. Organizers stated that more than 10,000 spectators attended the event live, describing it as a rare and historic moment in Nepali film promotion.
Director Dinesh Raut said he was emotional to release the trailer in front of such a massive audience and expressed confidence that the same enthusiasm would carry into theaters. Producer Mahendra Adhikari shared that the audience’s support has motivated him to stay actively involved in Nepali filmmaking.
The event featured musical performances by singer Kehar Singh Limbu and his band “Kehar and the Lunga,” along with bands “Istrij” and “Trija Pradhan and the Tukuche.” The blend of live music and film promotion created a festive atmosphere.
Debut actors Abhishek Khadka and Aakriti Rajbhandari said they felt overwhelmed meeting thousands of viewers in person. The trailer hints at an emotional and intense love story, portraying family ties, romantic depth, and psychological conflict through strong visual storytelling.
Technically, the trailer stands out in cinematography, editing, music, and performances. It has already entered YouTube’s trending list, according to the organizers.
Director Dinesh Raut, known for romantic hits like November Rain and Classic, returns to the romance genre after directing socially driven films in recent years. Produced under the Vinish Entertainment banner, the film is written by Bikash Subedi and features a wide ensemble cast.
Songs from the film — Doko Bunne, Kata Chau Mero Phool, and Timi Bina — have already gained popularity. The team celebrated Doko Bunne crossing 5 million views during the event.
