Kathmandu. The overseas distribution rights of the much-anticipated Nepali romantic film “Kumari,” set for nationwide release on Magh 23, have been sold in multiple international territories. Producer Mahendra Adhikari confirmed that the film will be released in Australia, the United States, Canada, and the Middle East.
Distribution partners include Auskast Nepal and Three KG Events in Australia, Aatreya Production and Koseli Colorado in the U.S., Mero Events in Canada, and Nepfilm in the Middle East.
Following the trailer launch, the producer said that additional international inquiries have been coming in. The trailer was unveiled before a crowd of over 10,000 people at Kathmandu’s Bhrikutimandap and has since received positive responses both domestically and abroad. The trailer has also entered YouTube’s trending list, reportedly crossing around 800,000 views.
Director Dinesh Raut described the large public turnout during the trailer launch as a dream come true and expressed confidence that the same excitement will carry into theaters.
The film marks the debut of Abhishek Khadka and Aakriti Rajbhandari in lead roles. Supporting cast members include Ghanshyam Joshi, Sunita Shrestha, Akanksha Karki, Madhu Khadka, Sanam Shrestha, Saku Shah, Saroj Lamichhane, and Manisha Sharma, among others.
Produced under the banner of Vinish Entertainment, the film is written by Bikash Subedi. Cinematography is by Susan Prajapati, editing and color grading by Suprim Parajuli, and sound design by Uttam Neupane. Poster and publicity design is by Royal Bhimsen, with Kedar Bhusal serving as executive producer.
Songs from the film — “Doko Bunne,” “Kata Chau Mero Phool,” and “Timi Bina” — have already gained popularity. Notably, “Doko Bunne” has surpassed 6 million views. All songs feature vocals by Kehar Singh Limbu, music by Suman Tamang, and lyrics by Sagar Lamichhane Magar and Suman Tamang.
Director Dinesh Raut, known for his success in romantic films, returns to the genre after directing socially driven projects, with the team expressing confidence that Kumari will resonate with audiences both in Nepal and abroad.
