Dinesh Sitaula, former president of the Film Journalists Association of Nepal, has passed away. He died on Sunday at 12:45 PM while undergoing treatment at Grande Hospital in Tokha, Kathmandu, due to a brain hemorrhage. His final rites were performed the same evening at Pashupati Aryaghat according to Hindu traditions. He was 45 years old and unmarried.
Sitaula had suddenly lost consciousness at around 9:30 AM on Friday during a visit to Achham. He was initially taken to a district hospital, but due to his critical condition, he was airlifted by a Nepal Army helicopter via Surkhet to Kathmandu for advanced treatment. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Grande Hospital.
According to Dr. Binod Bijukchhe, Medical Director at Grande Hospital, Sitaula showed no neurological improvement even after 48 hours of intensive care. Following medical protocol, doctors conducted an apnea test, which returned positive — confirming the absence of spontaneous breathing. His death was then officially declared.
Sitaula had been active in Nepali film journalism for over 15 years and was the operator of the film news portal “The Cinema Times.com.” During his career, he served the Film Journalists Association of Nepal as president, vice president, and secretary.
His untimely passing has left the Nepali film journalism community in mourning.
