Kathmandu — Highlighting the human rights and justice issues of sex worker women, Aastha-Faith has issued an open letter to Balen Shah, addressing him as a potential future Prime Minister and calling for dialogue and policy reform.

The letter, made public by Executive Director Rina Lama, raises concerns about the violence, discrimination, and social exclusion faced by hundreds of thousands of sex workers in Nepal.

The organization, which has been working for over two decades on health and human rights issues of sex workers, has also produced the film Lalima, currently screening. According to the group, the film is not just a story but a collective documentation based on the real-life experiences of around 3,000 sex workers.

The letter states that many sex workers face daily abuse and are deprived of basic human rights, while their voices remain largely excluded from policy discussions or misrepresented when included.

The organization has invited Balen Shah for dialogue and urged policy-level reforms to ensure dignity, protection, and rights for sex workers.

In conclusion, Rina Lama emphasized that building a truly inclusive nation requires safeguarding the rights and dignity of marginalized communities.

The letter is expected to spark broader discussions on social justice and human rights in Nepal.
