Trailer of ‘Elephants in the Fog’ Unveiled, Story Follows a Mother Searching for Her Missing Child

Kathmandu — The trailer of the Nepali film Elephants in the Fog has been officially released. The film, selected under the prestigious “Un Certain Regard” section at the Cannes Film Festival, presents an emotional and socially driven narrative through its trailer.

Written and directed by Avinash Bikram Shah, the trailer portrays a village terrorized by wild elephants, distressed locals seeking help from the police, and a mother desperately searching for her missing child. The emotional struggle of the mother and the obstacles she faces form the core of the trailer.

According to the production team, Elephants in the Fog tells the story of a minority community living in a settlement affected by recurring attacks from wild elephants. The film combines social realism with deep human emotion and has already attracted international attention.

The cast includes Pushpa Thing, Dipika Yadav, Jasmin Bishwakarma, Eliz Ghimire, Joel Gurung, and Umesh Pandey. Veteran actors including Gauri Malla and Maotse Gurung also appear in the film.

The film is produced under Jayanti Creations by Kumudini Gurung Shrestha, Soham Dhakal, and Prachandaman Shrestha, alongside producer Anup Poudel from Underground Talkies Nepal.

International producers from France, Germany, Brazil, and Norway are also associated with the project, highlighting its strong global collaboration.

Director Avinash Bikram Shah previously won recognition at Cannes for his short film Lori and is also known as the screenwriter of acclaimed Nepali projects including Kalo Pothi, Shambala, and the series Singha Durbar.
