‘Aa Bata Aama 2’ Sells Middle East Distribution Rights After Japan and North America Deals

Kathmandu: Nepali film “Aa Bata Aama 2,” directed by Chandra Pant, continues to gain momentum in the international market, with its Middle East distribution rights sold ahead of its theatrical release.

According to the production team, the distribution rights covering the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman have been acquired following an agreement between Arya Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Ashish Entertainment.

The latest deal follows earlier international sales, with R&B Entertainment securing the film’s Japan rights and Doko Films acquiring distribution rights for the United States and Canada. The producers said both agreements were signed for significant amounts.

Produced under the banner of Arya Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the film stars Paul Shah, Malika Mahat, Bipana Thapa, Pradeep Rawat, Aakash Shrestha, Rista Gurung, Nikita Acharya, Sabin Shrestha, Saigrace Pokharel, Gajit Bista and Naren Khadka, among others.

The film tells the emotional story of a mother waiting for her children who have gone abroad for employment, highlighting the pain of separation and the enduring bond between parents and their children. Its emotional dialogue — “A mother keeps sowing Jamara for years, holding on to the false hope that her child will return” — has generated considerable audience interest.

Written by director Chandra Pant, the film has Karan Singh Rasali serving as production manager.

Carrying the tagline “The Story of Dashain’s Jamara and a Mother’s Wait,” “A Bata Aama 2” is scheduled for nationwide release on Asoj 30 (mid-October). RR Films will distribute the film in Nepal, while OSR Digital has acquired its digital streaming rights.

The first installment, “Aa Bata Aama,” also directed and produced by Chandra Pant, earned more than NPR 130 million at the domestic box office and was recognized by the Film Development Board among Nepal’s highest-grossing films.
