Kathmandu: The upcoming Nepali film ‘Akshara’ has secured an international distribution deal ahead of its domestic release, with its South Korea theatrical rights acquired by KTM 2 Seoul.
Produced under the banner of Kshit Babu Production House, the film is scheduled to hit theatres across Nepal on September 11 (Bhadra 26). The overseas deal means Nepali audiences living in South Korea will also be able to watch the film in cinemas.
The producers have not disclosed the financial details of the agreement. However, the sale of international distribution rights before the film’s release is being viewed as a positive sign for the project and the Nepali film industry.
Presented by Sony Thapa (Dhungana), ‘Akshara’ is directed by Binaya Raj Poudel. The cast includes Sushil Sitoula, Nancy Khadka, Sushil Pokharel, Pushkar Raut, Rista Adhikari, Anshu Maharjan, Gita Adhikari, Birendra Kushwaha, Srijana Adhikari, Mohan Adhikari, and Srishti Khadka. Child actors Ronak Khadka and Preesa Dhungana also feature in the film.
