“Saathi, are you also leaving the village?”
“If I don’t leave, my dreams won’t come true, my friend.”
“When will you return?”
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. Oh, listen—when I left, I couldn’t even look at my mother’s tearful eyes. Please visit her sometimes.”
“Alright… But will you forget us, my friend?”
“And, my friend, tell my mother this—don’t grow old until my dreams come true, okay?”
“Oh, Mother, don’t grow old until I return after earning enough!” (sings with emotion)
This is a common struggle faced by Nepali youth. The dialogues from the film Janai Harayeko Bahun reflect the harsh reality of young people leaving behind their aging parents in remote villages to chase their dreams in the city. This farewell exchange between two village friends, where one departs for the city, highlights the painful truth of migration.
The emotional line—where a son leaves home without even looking at his mother’s face—clearly portrays how young Nepalis, burdened by responsibilities, migrate to cities or foreign lands, often suppressing their emotions.
Despite knowing that time cannot be stopped, the son leaves with the desire to fulfill his mother’s wishes while she is still alive. The film Janai Harayeko Bahun is expected to showcase how he struggles in the city, the challenges he faces, and how he eventually returns home.
The heartfelt dialogue between the two main characters resonates with the current reality of the country. The film appears to be a deep, emotional narrative that could strongly connect with audiences if executed well.
By unveiling this thematic dialogue, the filmmakers have also announced a new opportunity. The main actors, Vijay Baral and associate director-actor Manish Raut, have lent their voices to the theme.
Director Himal Nyaupane has revealed that those who sing the theme song and post it on TikTok will get a chance to sing for the movie’s official soundtrack. The best singer will get the opportunity to perform a song composed by Arjun Pokharel.
Vijay Baral has been signed as the lead actor. Janai Harayeko Bahun marks Himal Nyaupane’s directorial debut, with Manish Raut—also known for his role in Prem Geet 3—as the associate director and an actor in the film. This film also marks the beginning of his journey as a director.
Produced by Paperclip Pvt. Ltd., the story, screenplay, and dialogues are penned by Bhanubhakta Dhakal. The film explores the unforeseen events experienced by a villager who moves to the city and how these events transform his life.

The producers of the film include CR Basnet, Kamal Nyaupane, RK Manandhar, Bimal Nyaupane, Philip DC, and Nishant Shrestha. The cinematography is handled by Navin Gurung, with Samrat Maharjan (Jack) as the creative director and Mayank Nirola as the VFX supervisor.
The remaining cast and technical team will be announced soon. The film’s songs will feature lyrics and music by Arjun Pokharel.
Director Nyaupane has announced that shooting will begin in Chaitra (March-April), with Janai Harayeko Bahun set for release in 2082 BS (2025 AD).
