Arun Lama, the director of Dori, is set to make his second film, Tathastu. He announced the project by unveiling a poster.

According to the released poster, the film’s shooting is scheduled to begin at the start of 2083 B.S. (2026 A.D.), and the release is planned for 2027. Presented by G7 Productions Pvt. Ltd., the film, as described by Lama, is not just a film but a story of karma, fate, and inner transformation. He says the film will explore the conflict between spiritual journeys, inner turmoil, and social reality. Additionally, set against the backdrop of the “Simulation Theory,” it will portray a narrative spanning two realms — the realm of gods and the realm of humans.

Lama also explained the meaning behind the film’s title, Tathastu. He said, “The word means ‘So be it, as you wished.’ But do all our wishes truly align with what’s right? Are we even ready for them? In life, understanding is more important than possession. What you ask for only becomes meaningful when you’re truly ready to receive it.”

The director shared that the film will feature popular young actors, unexpected yet talented faces from Nepal and India, established names, and rising talents. The film will be made in both Nepali and Hindi, with shooting taking place in Nepal and India.

The production will be done in two phases, according to Lama. His earlier film Dori did not perform well commercially. He attributed this to the pro-democracy movement at the time, which kept audiences away from cinemas. He added, “When theaters were empty, the film couldn’t achieve the expected commercial success. But those who watched it, mostly liked it.”
