Kathmandu: Film producer Abiral Thapa, known for producing ‘Bulbul’ and ‘Bhuthan’, has announced an open casting call for a new leading actress for his upcoming romantic feature film.

According to the announcement shared on the production company’s official page, aspiring actresses aged 22 to 27 are invited to apply. Applicants can access the application form by scanning the provided QR code or through the designated website. The submission requires photographs in different formats, a one-minute acting video, and a résumé.

Thapa previously produced ‘Bulbul’, the film that helped establish actress Swastima Khadka as one of Nepal’s leading performers after she received national and international recognition. His recent production ‘Bhuthan’ also earned veteran actor Hari Bansha Acharya critical acclaim, including a Best Actor award from film critics.

The upcoming film will be directed by Ramraja Dahal, Principal of the Oscar International College of Film Studies. Dahal, who directed films such as ‘Basma Chhaina Mero Man’, ‘Kasam Hajurko’, ‘Guru Dakshina’, and ‘Nepathya’, is returning to directing after a 12-year hiatus.

Thapa described the project as a unique romantic drama unlike anything previously seen in Nepali cinema. He said the production is looking for a fresh face with strong acting abilities and a natural on-screen star presence.

The application deadline is July 16 (end of Ashar). Shortlisted candidates will be invited for auditions during Shrawan, followed by acting workshops. The production team aims to begin filming shortly after the Dashain festival.

Expressing confidence in the project, Thapa said the actress selected through the casting process has the potential to become one of the future superstars of Nepali cinema.
