Kathmandu, June 13 — Renowned Nepali folk singer Bishnu Majhi has made an unexpected return to projects outside her own music label through the newly released song ‘Jhorle Hajur.’
For the past several years, Majhi had largely confined her musical releases to Teej and Dashain specials produced under her own banner, Sapana Music Industries. As a result, audiences had become accustomed to waiting until the festive season to hear new songs from the celebrated singer.
However, this time, she has surprised listeners by lending her voice to a non-seasonal track well before Teej, marking her first major collaboration outside her own production house in years.
Released on Saturday, ‘Jhorle Hajur’ features vocals by Bishnu Majhi alongside singer Babukrishna Pariyar. The lyrics have been penned by Ramesh Biji, while the music composition is by Babukrishna himself. The song arrangement has been done by Shyamshwet Rasaili.
Inspired by the Magar greeting word “Jhorle,” the song departs from the themes of longing and sorrow commonly associated with Teej songs, offering listeners a fresh musical experience. Majhi’s decision to participate in an external project after a long hiatus has drawn considerable attention within Nepal’s folk music fraternity.
The music video features performances by Babukrishna Pariyar and Sujain Singh Khadka. It has been choreographed and directed by Mausam Himali, with cinematography by Buddha Thapa and editing by Amrit Chapagain.
The official video has been released through Babukrishna Pariyar’s official YouTube channel.
