Kathmandu: Actress Simran Khadka, who plays the lead role in the upcoming Nepali film ‘Gaunthali,’ took an unconventional approach to promoting the movie by walking through the busy streets of Kathmandu and Lalitpur carrying a traditional basket (doko) filled with grass.

Dressed as her character from the film, Simran visited the historic areas of Basantapur and Patan on Saturday, where she interacted with more than 2,000 people. She distributed brochures containing information about the film and personally invited the public to watch it in theaters.

According to Simran, many people she met said they had already decided to watch ‘Gaunthali’ after seeing its trailer and promotional interviews. Some even told her they had previously gone to theaters expecting the film to be showing, only to discover it had not yet been released.

“It was a wonderful experience to meet audiences in person and invite them to watch the film. Their encouraging response has given us even more confidence,” Simran said.

Directed by Dr. Kapil Rijal, Gaunthali has been generating strong buzz ahead of its release. The film is scheduled to hit theaters across Nepal on July 17 (Shrawan 1), while its trailer is currently ranked No. 1 on YouTube’s trending list in Nepal.

Produced by Bhola Rijal Production and Suman Giri Production, the film stars Arun Chhetri, Simran Khadka, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Prakash Ghimire, Lunibha Tuladhar, Rabindra Jha, Ishwori Baral, Sanjog Rasaili, Sita Devi Timilsina, Laxminath Timilsina, and Rajendra Nepali. Child actors Anshu Oli and Prince Nepali also appear in the film.

The film is executive produced by Sarla Rijal, with Suman Giri and Dr. Kapil Rijal serving as producers. Indu Giri, Manish Rijal, Pralaya Rijal, and Jeevan Oli are co-producers.

Based on a story by Dr. Bhola Rijal, the screenplay and dialogues were jointly written by Dr. Kapil Rijal, Nishchal Kunwar, Niraj Nepal, and Giriraj Ghimire. The film features cinematography by Hari Humagain, editing by Milan Shrestha, and Giriraj Ghimire as chief assistant director.
