Singer Kavita Aryal’s Teej song ‘Shrimanju’ has been officially released at a program organized by Rastriya Lok Sancharakarmi Nepal. The song carries the theme of women empowerment.

The release took place under the chairmanship of Chandramani Gautam, President of Rastriya Lok Sancharakarmi Nepal, with Narayan Rayamajhi—a renowned singer, composer, and film director—as the chief guest.

The event was graced by notable personalities including former president of the National Folk and Dohori Song Foundation Badri Pangeni, senior vice president Pashupati Sharma, popular model/director Shankar BC, founding president Govinda Giri, and former president Hariballabh Nepal, among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, chief guest Narayan Rayamajhi expressed happiness over the release of a traditional song at a time when flashy and commercial Teej songs are gaining attention. “No single person or organization can eliminate the distortion in the music industry. Every artist must self-censor,” he said.

Special guest Pashupati Sharma emphasized that women today should not be confined to the home and that husbands should encourage them to build careers.

Badri Pangeni echoed the need for censorship in music similar to that in films due to growing distortion in the industry. He praised Kavita Aryal for her creative efforts and congratulated her for releasing a culturally rooted Teej song. “The lyrics capture the essence of Teej, and the video successfully visualizes its emotions,” he added.

Govinda Giri, the founding president of the organizing body, spoke about the challenges faced by the organization since its inception. He highlighted how commercialization in music leads to distortion and said that it is the creators’ responsibility to self-regulate.

Director Shankar BC stressed that promoting originality is a collective responsibility. Lyricist and composer Ramesh Pariyar expressed joy at being part of a team that supports authentic creations.

Singer Kavita Aryal said she always prioritizes originality in her musical work. She expressed gratitude for being able to release her song through a prestigious cultural organization, and credited Badri Pangeni for inspiring her to pursue a career in music.

Chairperson Chandramani Gautam noted that while past Teej songs reflected women’s pain and emotions, today’s trend of loud and inappropriate songs undermines that legacy. He urged artists not to associate vulgar content with Teej songs. He also shared that his organization had to reach out to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cyber Bureau to address such issues.

The program, hosted by Secretary Kamal Sargam Chaulagain, featured a welcome speech by Women’s Department Head Sabita Pokharel.

The song ‘Shrimanju’ is now available on the singer’s official YouTube channel. It features vocals by Kavita Aryal, lyrics and composition by Ramesh Pariyar, and music arrangement by Krishna KC. The track was mixed and mastered by Khadak Bajurali, while the video was directed and choreographed by Shankar BC and features Losina Lamichhane. Durga Paudel handled cinematography and Nabin Gharti did the editing.

The ceremony also included a celebratory cake-cutting on the occasion of Vice President Hari Dulal’s birthday. Dulal contributed Rs. 11,111 to the organization’s welfare fund on the occasion.
